Summer Program 2023
The Cantarella School of Dance Ballet’s Summer Dance Program provides dance for all levels over the summer.
The CSOD summer program offers elementary and entry level dance camps, intermediate and advanced level dance intensives, and weekly classes for children (3 years and up) and adults.
Intensive weeks are concentrated programs for the aspiring dancer at the intermediate and advanced level, consisting of daily ballet classes and pointe technique complemented by variations, modern, jazz, yoga, Strength and conditioning, stage makeup or nutrition.

Dance Camps

For ages 3-5 with Miss Destiny
Dreams come true this summer at Disney princess camp! Perfect for the little princess in your life. Join Miss Destiny for three days of dancing, tea parties, and arts & crafts. Please bring a healthy snack and water.

For ages 5-7 with Miss Dede
Explore the world of magical creatures with Miss Dede! Mermaids, fairies and unicorns will come alive through dance and themed crafts. Families will be invited to the studio for an in-studio performance at the end of the week. Please bring a healthy snack and water.

Running July 18th – 21st from 9:00am – 12:00pm
For ages 4-6 with Miss Madailein
Gracefully glide across the lake, then spread your wings to fly! Miss Madailein will lead her swans through tap, pre-ballet and creative movement. Parents will be invited to watch their swans make a splash on the last day. Please bring a healthy snack and water.

Dance Intensives
Running July 24th – July 28th from 9:00am – 12:00pm
For ages 7-10 with Miss Dede
Enjoy learning about the comedic ballet Coppelia, a story of mistaken identity, mischief, and life-sized dolls. Join Miss Dede former dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Technique class will be followed by variations.

For ages 12+ with Mr. David
*Jr/Sr Dance Team Requirement
This week will consist of a strong focus on strength building and flexibility during our warm-up stretch. Mr. David’s high energy jazz class will consist of a strong focus on developing technique, rhythm, and style as we move across the floor with progressions tailored to work clean lines, turns, jumps, and even tricks. Class will finish with a jazz combination using today’s trendy dance moves as well as classic Broadway style jazz.
Tap class a super fun class which dancers will create sounds with their feet. This class will cover material such as rhythm, timing, and proper tap technique. Students will work on musicality and learn how to unite their feet, arms, and body to the beat of the music.
Lyrical/Contemporary class is an EXPRESSIVE DANCE form combining jazz/ballet/and modern techniques. We will work on choreography and self-expression, as well as developing ones own personal style and expression. This class will certainly enhance your overall performance skills.

For ages 12+ with Miss Dede & Mr. Paquette
The ballet portion of the week will begin with a technique class, followed by repertory classes featuring several dances from the ballet Swan Lake, one of the most beloved classical ballets of all time. Dancers will be given a modern warm up, movement phrases and traveling steps across the floor. The group will develop a dance from class work and individual input. The dancers will also participate in creating the musical accompaniment for the dance. We will present the work along with Miss Dede’s piece on Friday evening.

Intensive #1
Ages 8+ (July 12-16)
Miss Olivia Moran will instruct the Mini CDCT in a week-long half day program. The Mini Dance team allows younger dancers to advance their training with competitions and performances. This dance team camp will inspire individual growth and self-esteem in a supportive atmosphere. At the end of the week there will be a short presentation via Zoom. Parents will be emailed the specific link to participate.

Intensive #2
Ages 9+ (July 27-30)
Miss Olivia Martin will teach this high energy camp that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, popping, and locking. This intensive will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Camp/class includes conditioning, stylization and choreography. A brief zoom presentation will be held at the end of the week and parents will be emailed the specific link to participate.

Intensive #3
August 17 - 21
Join Charles Paquette for the first half of the day for a week of study in Ballet, Modern and Improvisation where you will explore your dance potential, build your technique, move with other dancers and participate in a short end of the week presentation. For the second half you will learn jazz, lyrical and contemporary styles with Danielle Price. Expand on your styles of dance! You will work on flexibility, strength, technique and confidence! At the end of the week there will be a short presentation via zoom. Parents will be emailed the specific link to participate.

Intensive #4
August 23-27
Olivia Martin will instruct CDCT in a week long half day program focusing on Jazz and Lyrical technique. Students will learn and improve upon advanced Jazz and Lyrical steps. At the end of the week the students will perform two short pieces, one Jazz and one Lyrical via Zoom. Parents will be emailed the specific link to participate.
